Introduction

InterGlobe Enterprises (IGE) has announced its intention to introduce an all-electric air taxi service in India by 2026. This initiative is a result of a partnership with Archer Aviation, a company specializing in electric aircraft and air taxis.

The InterGlobe-Archer air taxi service will transport passengers from Connaught Place in Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana in just approximately 7 minutes, offering a significantly faster alternative to the 60-90 minute road journey.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between IndiGo and Archer Aviation to solidify their commitment to launching the electric air taxi service in India.

Diverse Use Cases

Beyond urban air taxi services, IndiGo and Archer plan to explore various other applications for electric aircraft in India. These include cargo transportation, logistics, medical and emergency services, as well as private company and charter services.

Archer Aviation took to social media to announce the landmark deal with InterGlobe Enterprises. Their Chief Commercial Officer expressed pride in the partnership and participation in the signing ceremony in New Delhi.

Acquisition Plans

The collaboration aims to acquire as many as 200 of Archer's Midnight aircraft for deployment in India. The Midnight aircraft is a four-passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle designed to enable quick consecutive flights with minimal charging time.
